Did you know that our most beloved mexican President Don Benito Juarez Garcia (1806-1872) lived in New Orleans from 1853-1855, & 1858 in exile? there is in fact a statue dedicated to his memory in New Orleans on 1200 Conti St. While there he worked as a cigar roller and learned French from the creole people. He was an extraordinary President, his life is worth reading, a highly intelligent man of mesoamerican zapotecan indigenous descend who rose from poverty not even speaking spanish at first, to become Mexico’s President. So when you drive on Rosarito’s main street, remember why it was named after him…Simply, AMAZING !!!
